Application fees to develop a 20,000 megawatt solar farm in Fort Edward will cost the developer, CS Energy, $10,000, the Post-Star is reporting this morning. The Fort Edward Town Board Monday night set an application fee of 50 cents per kilowatt for commercial solar projects, with a minimum fee of $500, the story says.
Also in the Post-Star, a fire alarm system was obsolete even as it was being installed in the Moreau Town Hall. The whole system, just eight years old, must be replaced because parts are no longer available and the warranty was nonexistent. This is the latest in a long list of troubles with the fire suppression and warning systems, the story says.
According to a story in the Adirondack Explorer, the Adirondack Park Agency, at its meeting later today, has plans to vote on a 28-acre solar project in Ticonderoga, on a 355-home development in North Elba, and on a new campground area at Hinckley Reservoir. Also on the agenda is an amendment to the zoning map in Lake Luzerne, which the story says is likely to fail. APA staff cite a loss of open space, among other issues, in the story.
