Commercial Real Estate
The giant Amazon distribution center on Route 9 in Schodack has sold for $125 million, according to a story in the Albany Business Journal. Scannell Properties of Indianapolis built the facility which opened last year, and sold to Real Capital Solutions of Louisville, Colorado, the story says. It’s the most money paid for commercial real estate in the area.

The budget has fixed the work-from-home tax issue that hung black-cloud-like over some workers, the ABJ says. The issue was that some office workers in the Start-Up NY tax-incentive program, forced to stay home during the pandemic, were then faced with an elevated tax rate when they did not work at the office, a requirement of the program, through most of 2020. The rules have been adjusted, and the employees will not face suddenly-large tax bills, the story says.
Warren County honored the first person to die of COVID-19 in the county by planting a tree on the county’s property, the Post-Star is reporting this morning. Local officials were on hand to shovel dirt upon the roots of a maple. Sixty-six people have died in the county, the story says.
Foreclosure of the Tupper Lake Ski Area is being challenged in court, stopping the town from buying back, at a reduced price, the property it developed back in the 1960s, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise says. Franklin County is foreclosing after back taxes have accrued to over $300,000. The trouble there is that the mountain's owners owe the taxes plus fees to lawyers, debtors and others. The lawyers, debtors and others are stopping the foreclosure to make sure they get paid, the story says.
Travel, Tourism and Recreation
Also in the Post-Star, the Adirondack Wine and Food Festival, a perennial event until the start of the pandemic, has been cancelled for the second consecutive year. It started in 2014. Scheduled for late June this year in the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons in Lake George Village, the event would be allowed only 1,000 visitors a day, far lower than normal, the story says. The organizers are looking to 2022 and are still raising money now for Big Brothers/Big Sisters despite cancelling the event. Click here to give: adkwinefest.com/bbbs.
