Nexamp won a deal to use 50 acres of land at the Warren County airport for a solar array, the Post-Star is reporting. The company's contract for the 6.5 megawatt facility lasts 25 years and Nexamp will remove the array after that, the story says. The county expects to receive about $207,000 in the first year and about $6 million during the lifetime of the contract.

Lake Placid will begin work Monday on parking lots, curbs and water mains along Main Street in the hamlet, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting. The work will largely close one lane of traffic through town on weekdays. This is the first of many projects that will be completed by fall 2023, just in time for the World University Games, the story says.
Also in the ADE: Business is booming in Lake-not-so-Placid, an oddity for the High Peaks hamlet this time of year. Spring break is normally so sleepy that some retailers close-up for a short period. The coronavirus pandemic has made flying to get away a bit less palatable for many people, but driving deep into the Adirondacks is just the thing, according to the story.
Education and Training
What’s good news for elite universities could be trouble for smaller institutions, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. As students apply for college, the elite schools are creating space for a larger first-year class this fall, and maybe that trend will continue into the future, which could spell trouble for smaller, less-well-known schools, that will lose in the competition for the best and brightest. The reason for the push: post-COVID, the schools need the tuition dollars to make up for poor enrollment this year, the story says.
