Crandall Library budget passes, Geraghty wins Warrensburg
Residents of Glens Falls, Queensbury and Moreau approved the $5.17 million, 2022 Crandall Public Library budget Tuesday, the Post-Star is reporting. The tax rate that funds the budget remains unchanged, but the budget itself increased from $4.86 million in 2021.
In the e-edition of the Post-Star, they report on the Warren County races, including Warrensburg Supervisor Kevin Geraghty who won a fifth term, beating former Warren County Sheriff Bud York and Town Board member Rich Larkin. In Thurman, Supervisor Susan Shepler lost to Debra Runyon, 287-52. Johnsburg Supervisor Andrea Hogan, a Democrat beat Republican Thomas Zauner. Lake Luzerne is still a toss-up.
Tie in Tupper
The Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting a “dead heat” in the race for Tupper Lake mayor. Absentee ballots will decide the race on Nov. 15 when elections officials open and count them. North Elba Town Supervisor will likely go to Derek Doty, the paper says. Wilmington voters have chosen Independent Tim Follos and Republican Tina L. Terry Preston for town council, another story says.
Two win, three fail in state ballot initiatives
“New Yorkers on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly to enact new — if vague — protections for the environment, enshrining in the state constitution a right to a ‘healthful environment,’ which backers say is crucial to positioning the state against worsening climate change woes,” says the lead in a story in the Post-Star (the Buffalo News wrote the story). A measure to ease civil case backlogs in the court system also passed. But Republicans and Conservatives fought against voting changes and those measures failed along, likely, with changes to the congressional redistricting process.
