Albany County lists shovel-ready sites
The Advance Albany County Alliance is creating a list of Albany County sites that have been approved for development so that larger companies looking to move might choose Albany County. This ties into Gov. Kathy Hochul’s FAST NY program that helps localities bring utilities to new locations. The alliance formed in 2020 to help coordinate economic development in the county, a story in the Albany Business Journal says.

The IDA owns the property. Kilcoyne’s current slaughterhouse is over three hours away. The demonstrators were mostly from the pro-animal group CARE, the story says.
Wastewater in the Adirondacks
Finding the money to fix sewer, septic and wastewater systems in the Adirondack Park is like trying to draw blood from a stone, says at least one local leader in an Adirondack Explorer story. Residents in the Town of St. Armand pay $1,200 per year for town water and sewer, the story says, and the town needs upgrades to a project not even two years old. State rules are unfair when applied the same way to tiny localities of 250 people as to a 100,000 person city, local leaders say in the story.
