Two bidders for Central Warehouse
Two of the largest developers in the Capital Region have come together in a bid to redevelop the former Central Warehouse building in Albany. CW Skyway LLC is the company created by Redburn Development Partners of Schenectady and Columbia Development Cos. of Albany.
The second firm, whose bid was unsealed yesterday, the Albany Business Journal is reporting, was identified as 6 Colonie Street LLC, led by Patrick Chiou and Philip Park, a story in the Albany Business Journal says.
Government and Regulations in 2022
The Albany Business Journal sat down with Heather Briccetti, CEO of the Business Council of New York State Inc. The group represents about 3,500 member companies and looks to regulate regulations. So far so good, the story says, but it discusses unemployment insurance, the state’s climate act, and the anti-trust bill that may do more harm than good.
Great Escape’s new entrance
The Great Escape theme park in Queensbury would tear out the current ticketing booth area and replace it with one building, metal detectors new lighting and bathrooms, the Post-Star is reporting this morning.
Charges dropped against Saratoga BLM supporter
Saratoga judge Francine Vero dismissed charges against Schenectady school board member Jamaica Miles for her actions during a Black Lives Matter protest on city streets in July, the Daily Gazette is reporting. She had been charged with unlawful imprisonment for blocking a car on Broadway during the protest. The judge said that Miles’ good works had helped sway her opinion. The DG printed a portion of Miles statement: “But today, the judge made a decision based on the furtherance of justice, something both the Saratoga Police Department and Saratoga District Attorney’s Office not only refused to do, but were in direct opposition to doing.” Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen said the decision could mean that good people who break the law are untouchable.
Malta councilor wins no-bid town contract
Malta town councilor Tim Dunn, a former board member of Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership, was awarded a $7,000-a-month no-bid contract with the Partnership, the county’s economic development arm, a story in the Times Union says. His firm Dunn Strategy Group won day-to-day operations of the Partnership in September, just after he stepped down from the board. The monthly base fee over the six months will add up to $42,000. He declined comment for the story.
