Free dry ice and water from Warren County, National Grid

More upscale living in Clifton Park
A vacant house was demolished on Moe Road in Clifton Park to make room for 20 upscale apartments in two buildings, the Albany Business Journal reports. The 1.9 acre site sits next to the Shenendehowa Central School District campus. Construction is expected to start in the fall. The story highlights the fact that this will add to the overall rental count in the town, which is 82% owner-occupied, and the builder sees a need for rentals.
Masks on, bus riders!
The Greater Glens Falls Transit Authority will continue to require masks for bus riders, the Post-Star is reporting. The transportation system in Warren County is adhering to a request from the governor’s office, the story says. Masks are available for riders on any of the eight GGFT buses currently in operation, as they have been throughout the entirety of the pandemic, and the authority says the masks work as no drivers have contracted COVID during the pandemic. The decision was made despite a recent federal court decision that said the federal government could not require masks on airplanes.
Opioid settlement dollars coming to Capital Region
The New York State Attorney General’s Office said $5.78 million is coming to the Capital Region in the first round of opioid settlement funding to assist the counties battling addiction, the Daily Gazette says. The money comes from a widespread lawsuit of states versus manufacturers and distributors of opioid painkillers. The drugs can be highly addictive, and in court “Big Pharma” was proven to have exacerbated the problems. The overall settlement is for $1.5 billion.
All 62 counties and the five largest cities in the state are receiving money this week, Attorney General Letitia James said in a press conference.

Black teen tackled at Target
The mother of a 14-year-old, Black teenager says her son, who has autism, was racially profiled for a theft he did not commit. Though tackled by a Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputy at the Target store in Clifton Park, the teen was not charged with a crime. His 17-year-old sister, who can be seen in a witness video pushing the police away from her brother was, the Times Union reports. The six-minute video is on youtube, here.
ORDA OKs lodge at North Creek Ski Bowl
The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority approved more than $91.7 million in capital projects, Monday, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reported earlier this week. The projects include construction of a new lodge at the North Creek Ski Bowl and a new ski lift at Whiteface Mountain. The multiple projects approved on Monday would be funded by the 2023 capital budget, but much funding will be pushed into the 2023-2024 fiscal year, according to board documents, the story says.
