ARCC Veterans Business Network (VBN) Partnering with VFW Post #2475 to host Stop 22 Walk for Veteran Suicide Awareness
The Veterans Business Network (VBN) of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the VFW Post 2475 to organize a Stop 22 Walk on October 14, 2021.
Stop 22 is a partnership initiative between the Department of NY Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and one of the nation’s leading health and well-being companies HUMANA to increase awareness of Veterans committing suicide - 22 Veterans are lost each day.
The number of veteran suicides continue to rise world-wide. In company with HUMANA, State Commander Michael Hoag is partnering with this well-known veteran supporter to reinvigorate the Department of NY Veterans of Foreign Wars STOP 22 Initiative first organized in 2018.
The 22-minute walk is scheduled for Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 4:00 pm, beginning at the City Park Gazebo in downtown Glens Falls, NY.
Participants are asked to contribute a minimum $1.00 donation per person at the time of event (cash or check only, please).
All proceeds will benefit the Commander's Homeless Veterans Special Project in support of Homeless Veterans to assist in PTSD\Suicide Prevention and Awareness.
After brief greeting remarks, participants will walk a circuit around Downtown Glens Falls for 22 minutes in remembrance of those lost and to raise awareness of the need for prevention. If you are walking on behalf of someone in active service to raise awareness or if you are walking to honor a Veteran lost to suicide, we welcome you to bring a photo (8 x 10, in uniform is recommended) of your loved one to the event. Apex9 Media will be on hand to capture your tributes and commemorations.
