Saratoga MLK Jr. Celebration Weekend
Nikara Warren Trio
to
Caffe Lena 47 Phila Street, New York 12866
MLK Saratoga's annual Dr. King Celebration Weekend offers a range of programming illuminating, amplifying, and reflecting on social, racial, and economic justice issues. Workshops, performances, lecture and panel discussions will engage community participants on many levels. This year’s theme explores and responds to Dr. King’s reflection, “Songs are the soul of a movement.”
Music and song give expression to pain and grief as well as joy, hope and the resilience of the human spirit. It has been three years since we have gathered in person for this annual tradition. We want to come together to grieve and heal, learn and grow, connect and celebrate. All events are free.
Sunday (1/15) Caffè Lena hosts two music programs with the Nikara Warren Trio celebrating Black excellence in music and featuring music from her triumphant debut album Black Wall Street.
6:30 pm: this performance will begin with an interview with Nikara Warren before her ensemble brings her infectious compositional sense, post-modern patchwork of influences and cultural signposts, and her fearless musicality to the stage.
