The Saratoga County Young Democrats will organize at this meeting and recharter with the New York State Young Democrats and the Young Democrats of America.
The Saratoga County Young Democrats’ purpose is to pursue liberty, justice, and freedom for all regardless of race, religion, or sex. The SCYD pursue these rights through support of the Democratic Party and its ideas, beliefs, and candidates. We advocate for Democratic principles and policies, working closely with other Democratic organizations, and fostering community service among young individuals.
In attendance will be the Saratoga County Democratic Committee Chair, Martha Devaney, as well as the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee Chair, Pat Tuz. Items on the agenda will include electing officers, assigning members to committees, the appointment of an executive director and convention delegates, and beginning the chartering process.
All are welcome, and no RSVP is required. Attendance to the meeting is free, however, membership comes with an annual fee of ($10) for regular members, and ($5) for student members. Membership includes voting powers, as well as the ability to be elected an officer or as a delegate to the State or National Young Democrats convention.
“The Young Democrats are a great opportunity for young people like myself to get involved in local politics, connecting them with local leaders and opportunities to get involved at the local level,” SCYD Organizer Benjamin Glover said at the Saratoga County Democratic Committee meeting late Thursday.
