Do You Have What It Takes To Beat the Brewers?
Common Roots Foundation combines disc golf and tasty beer for a fun fall fundraiser at Crandall Park
Do you think you’ve got the right stuff to “Beat the Brewers" (at disc golf, that is)?
How about supporting a local charity and enjoying delicious beer in a beautiful park?
Well, Common Roots Foundation has the perfect fall afternoon for you.
On Sunday, October 3rd, they host their inaugural "Beat the Brewers" Disc Golf Challenge at Crandall Park in Glens Falls.
“We’re a relatively new nonprofit. Our aim is to sustain and improve the quality of life throughout northeastern New York,” said Sean Rafferty, Executive Director of Common Roots Foundation -the charitable arm of Common Roots Brewing Co. “Your Oct. 3rd entry fee will help us support things like environmental stewardship, community wellness, and assist community members intimes of need.”
Bert Weber, President of the Common Roots Foundation and Co-Owner of Common Roots Brewing Co., said they thought long and hard about what to do for their first fall fundraiser:
“We wanted an event that both adults and families would enjoy. So after noticing that many of our customers at the taproom loved disc golf, ‘Beat The Brewers’ felt like a perfect idea.”
The first round of the day will be at 10am and is for beginners and families (including a free Learn to Play Disc Golf lesson at 9am).
The second round at 2pm is for intermediate and advanced players.
More games and prizes will follow each round. The team that beats the brewers by the largest margin wins the grand prize. When asked if the Brew Crew was ready to play, Weber replied, “Our brew crew is ready for anything! I know they really enjoy disc golf and they love a challenge. This will be a very fun day in the park!”Registration includes entry into the competition, a Common Roots beer token (or a refreshment if under 21), a raffle ticket, a t-shirt (if you register before 9/29). If you don’t have your own discs, they can be purchased inexpensively at Fountain Square Outfitters and most sporting goods stores. There will be a limited number of discs for sale at the event.
While you’re encouraged to sign up as a four-person team (entry fee $100), you may also register as a single and be matched to a team (entry fee $30). For more information and toregister, go to https://commonrootsbrewing.com/beat-the-brewers/. This is a rain or shine event.
About the Common Roots Foundation:
The Common Roots Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to improve the quality of life in northeastern New York, specifically in the areas of community wellness, environmental stewardship, and assisting those in times of need. This nonprofit was formed in 2020, a year after a devastating fire at the Common Roots Brewing Company was met with an outpour of community support. As a result, the Common Roots Foundation exists to give back, assist our community in times of need, and promote our shared values of creating a more sustainable, inclusive, and safe community.
