From her announcement statement: Emily McCabe McCarthy is the Republican endorsed candidate for Warren County Clerk. She is a native of Queensbury and has spent most of her life as a Warren County resident. After living in Albany for 10 years she moved back to Queensbury with her husband, Andrew, to raise their two daughters, Hazel and Molly.
“I am running for County Clerk because I believe my education and my 17 years experience working with the public makes me an excellent candidate for this position. As you know, the most important role of the County Clerk is to provide excellent customer service. I know I have some pretty big shoes to fill given the exceptional work of the County’s two previous County Clerks, Pam Vogel and Caryl Clark, but as an Ivy League educated, and Division 1 All American Cross Country runner, I have never been one to back away from a challenge,” Emily said.
Emily has worked in schools as a school counselor, for the New York State Assembly as a Correspondence Coordinator, the Office of Victim Services as a Crime Victims Specialist, and Warren County as the Deputy Elections Commissioner under Mary Beth Casey. Also, she interned for District Attorney Kate Hogan and NYS Governor George Pataki. Emily has had experience in management at the County and State level. As the Deputy Elections Commissioner, she was responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and paying Election Inspectors.
In addition, she had access to the County’s payroll and financial software system to maintain the office budget. Furthermore, at the State Office of Victim Services she reviewed applications and disbursed money from the State’s crime victims fund to eligible applicants. She also trained crime victim advocates. “My compassion and empathy for others remain my strongest personal attributes. I have done extensive volunteer work in the community with domestic violence victims, at-risk students, and children with disabilities, so I am confident I will be able to deliver exceptional customer service to the residents of Warren County and anyone who visits the County Clerk’s Office or Department of Motor Vehicles,” Emily remarked.
This may be Emily’s first time running for political office, but she is no stranger to the political process. She is a Delegate representing Warren County at the 4 th Judicial District Nominating Convention. Emily is also serving as the Secretary of the Warren County and Queensbury Republican Committees. The Warren County Republican Committee is a 155-person committee with members from the 11 Towns of Warren County and the City of Glens Falls. The Queensbury Republican Committee currently has 65 members. “I am very proud of my efforts to maintain communication amongst Committee members and I am pleased with the leadership I took this year to review, count, and organize petitions to get all of our Republican endorsed candidates on the Primary/General Election ballots,” Emily said.
