Tammy Doucette of Dream Vacations.
Tammy Doucette started Dream Vacations, a travel agency, in 2020 with one client just as the pandemic hit. She enters 2023 with over $50,000 in bookings thus far and is on track for a $500,000 year, she told FoothillsBusinessDaily.com in a recent interview.
She said that the pandemic and the slow start meant that she got to learn the business completely and slowly without being overwhelmed at first. She also joked that she did not have angry clients stuck on cruise ships and hundreds of bookings to reschedule.
2021 saw about 26 bookings, and 2022 saw 59.
“We almost tripled our sales in 2022,” Doucette said. “It was an incredible increase.”
Debra Darby signed on as Doucette’s first associate last October and immediately made $40,000 in sales, Doucette said, adding, “She is a rock star.”
Two more associates joined late last year and into this year. Darby works from Saratoga Springs and Florida while the other two work out of New York City and Maryland. Doucette hopes to onboard a fourth who will work from the central United States or on the west coast.
“We have customers everywhere, straight across the country,” she said.
With 12 bookings already sold, 2023 is looking to be a strong year, she said.
“It’s crazy, it’s busy, it’s absolutely hectic, my days, but I love, love, love what I do,” she said.
