Queensbury resident named county EMS coordinator
From a press release: Queensbury resident Patrick Mellon has been selected to serve as Warren County’s new Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Mellon replaced Micki Guy, who left the part-time position in October. Mellon had served as one of Warren County’s Deputy EMS Coordinators since 2013.
Mellon, 48, said he was honored to have been chosen for the position, which involves assisting in administration of the system of EMS providers in Warren County, including at incident scenes, and coordination of mutual aid and other resources through local, state and federal channels.
Mellon has been an Emergency Medical Technician since 1992, a paramedic since 1995 and works as a Captain for Colonie Emergency Medical Services.
He previously volunteered for the Lake George Rescue Squad, and serves as volunteer First Assistant Chief for the Bay Ridge Fire Company, having previously served as Chief in the Bay Ridge Fire Company as well. He has been a volunteer firefighter since 1990.

TU reporter Leigh Hornbeck joins Behan Communications
Leigh Hornbeck is leaving the Times Union news company to join Behan Communications of Glens Falls.
“Today was my last day at the Times Union. I’m proud of my 20 years there but it’s time for something new. Monday I start as a senior associate with Behan Communications,” Hornbeck wrote last week on Twitter.
According to her biography on the Times Union website, Hornbeck is the editor of the real estate section Spaces, writes a weekly real estate newsletter and writes for TU’s Women@Work magazine. She worked at Boston-area newspapers and covered Saratoga County for 10 years before moving into the paper’s features department in 2012. She graduated from St. Michael’s College in Vermont.
Glens Falls hires new building inspector
Philip Cancelliere has been hired as the new building inspector for the City of Glens Falls Building and Codes Department. Cancelliere began work Monday Nov. 7. Former building inspector William Celeste resigned at the end of October and has taken a position in Washington County, Judy Villa-White, the human resources director with the city said. Cancelliere joins the new Code Enforcement Officer, Justin Reckner, the head of the department who began in September. This is the latest change in the department.
