The South Street Community Pavilion in Glens Falls is home to the Glens Falls Farmers Market, which runs Saturday mornings from May to October. The space is used mainly for parking during the week.
Glens Falls Mayor Bill Collins told FoothillsBusinessDaily.com and others that his office is planning two public hearings in late September regarding the Glens Falls Farmers Market. The days and times were not solidified, and he asked us not to publish tentative times to avoid confusion if the plans change.
He made the remarks after the Glens Falls Planning Board meeting Tuesday Sept. 6. He was also scheduled to meet with Farmers Market leaders, both he and Tom Wells, president of the Farmers Market, said. We will of course keep people updated on that.

Wells and others have been putting pressure on the city to remember the Farmers Market as the city moves through plans to redevelop South Street near the Elm Street intersection. The plan is to move the market one block from the parking lot and pavilion at 31 South St. to 59 South St. The lack of parking for market vendors is a large worry for people like Wells. But also, he and others have said that former economic development director Ed Bartholomew had said they would have a full building, not just a pavilion, for the market. Bartholomew died two years ago.
The plans for South Street have shifted, officials have said, and the city is looking to make a space that can be used for more than just the market. As well, rising costs for materials and supply chain issues have forced the city to scale back the market building project.
The designer of the space has come up with a pavilion being called "yellow birch leaf" because of its shape.
"The city is actually planning to bring the design before the planning board next month," Flagg said at this week's planning board meeting.
