Bike Glens Falls seeks input from cyclers
From a press release: “Bike Glens Falls,” a citizen-led initiative to promote a safe, comfortable, and connected bike network in the City of Glens Falls has launched a survey to gather input from residents on what bicycle improvements they’d like to see implemented. The survey is online at BikeGlensFalls.com. The short survey asks residents about how they bike in the City and what destinations are most in need of safe bicycle connections.
The ultimate goal of Bike Glens Falls is to develop a bicycle master plan that the city government can use as a basis for making improvements like bike lanes, safer intersections, and connections between important destinations such as parks, restaurants, neighborhoods and schools.
About Bike Glens Falls: Bike Glens Falls is an initiative that began in 2020 by Glens Falls residents Norabelle Greenberger, Jordyn Conway, and Ethan Gaddy. It has since grown to include a network of volunteers who have helped identify priority improvements, evaluate existing roadways for bikeability, launch a website, and steer the planning process.
The group meets twice a month and has initiated several public outreach efforts, including this public survey, a community-led roadway bike safety assessment, and has set up maps at several public events to identify key activity nodes.
“Developing a network of safe bike infrastructure will benefit public health, reduce traffic and parking issues, continue to revitalize downtown, and attract new residents,” says BGF member Ethan Gaddy, 36. “And, aside from those very pragmatic reasons for developing bike infrastructure- biking is fun and I want my 1-year old daughter to safely enjoy it as much as I do.”
Gaddy is a planner with Warren County.

Granville Community Foundation announces it has met its $1 million fundraising goal for 2021
From a press release: The Granville Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it has met its $1 million fundraising goal for 2021.
“It’s been an incredible first year.” said Michael Freed in the statement. He is chair of the Granville Community Foundation (GCF). “We’ve created a mission to invest in the future of Granville, a vision to raise $5 million toward that investment by 2030 and a brand summary to assist in an expanded awareness of who we are. We’ve done all this while soliciting donations from a lot of people with ties to Granville and preparing for our first grant awards in 2022.”
The next step for the GCF will be to plan for two grant-making cycles in 2022, the first of which starts with the submission of proposals on Feb. 1 and is expected to result in grants awarded in late April 2022.
The GCF is a donor-advised sub-fund of the Glens Falls Foundation with a seven-member Advisory Board.
