Good March at Saratoga Casino
March was the best month in a year for the Saratoga Casino. Total credits played: $145,862,173. That’s up $145,862,173 from last April when the casino was shut down for the coronavirus pandemic. It reopened in September to the tune of $77,197,555, and the jump from February to March was $45 million.
The “Education Contribution”--also known as the VLT--that is so important to the Saratoga Springs budget was $4,931,385 in March.
This money goes first to the state, and then in a normal year about $2 million would come back to the city, officials have said. The city gets that money because they play host to the Casino on Bunny Lane Drive. Gov. Andrew Cuomo zeroed out that part of the budget for all host cities except Yonkers this year. In the budget passed in recent weeks, $2.3 million was restored.

The Town Board may vote upon the ordinance after the public hearing, the website says.
The town has been considering for months a plan to regulate how homes are rented. The board has held other meetings and public hearings on it. Any law enacted would not be enforced until at least the 2022 season, officials have said. See our coverage here and here.
