The Country Cottages in Diamond Point was sold to a downstate businessman.
Another Lake George “mom and pop” resort sold in the final days of 2021, a year full of large, Lake George commercial property sales.
Robert Hansen, a Long Island HVAC manufacturer, paid $2.75-million on Dec. 28 for the 3.4-acre Country Cottages & Motel in Diamond Point.
Mitch Muroff of Muroff Hospitality Group said he represented both Hansen and the sellers, Cesare and Ginny Porter.
“They lovingly built each cottage individually,” Muroff said of the Porters. Country Cottages includes 17 self-contained cottages, all with full basements. There are also four motel units and a three-bedroom, two-bathroom log cabin on the property.
A letter from the Porters posted on the Country Cottages Facebook page said Hansen “plans to operate Country Cottages & Motel the same as it’s always been.”
In June, Hansen also bought Lake George Suites just up the road for $3.2-million from Bob Moser of Prime Group Holdings. Muroff handled both ends of that sale as well.
“Lake George has been very strong,” said Muroff, who specializes in listing and marketing hotels and motels. “For many, 2020 was a record year, and 2021 exceeded 2020.”
The last year saw a record number of sales of motels and hotels:
- The Flamingo Resort sold for $6.5-million on Nov. 30.
- Capri Village in Bolton sold for $5.5-million on Nov. 5. [Read more here.]

Muroff said he has serious prospective buyers lined up, ready to buy on Lake George.
He currently has two lake properties listed:
- The Travelodge, listed for $1.5-million.
- Cloud Nine Inn off Exit 21, no price disclosed.
Muroff also has the Landmark Motor Inn in South Glens Falls listed for $3.6-million.
At least two marinas, Pilot Knob near Katskill Bay and Smith Brothers in Bolton, have sold.
