Village 2023 dates announced: Americade, Eastern States Towing and Recovery Show
From a press release: Two of Lake George Village’s long-time special events have scheduled new dates in 2023.
- Americade is now: May 31 to June 3, the week after Memorial Day.
- Eastern States Towing and Recovery Show (ESTRA) is now moving to Americade’s former week of June 9-11.
- Craft show, June 9-11, relocates to the Village’s Shepard Park.
Lake George Village’s Mayor Robert Blais has announced that Americade will now be located on the Village’s Beach Road as well as occupying Wood Park’s Festival Space.
Two concerts are planned on Friday and Saturday and are open to the general public. Both events were scheduled the same week creating problems of event space, parking and room accommodations, Blais said.
Members of the ESTRA had concerns about the effect Americade would have on their attendance both scheduled for the same weekend.
“Everyone benefits from this move”, Mayor Blais said. “Americade gets more space. ESTRA has their own weekend and the craft show benefits from more foot traffic in the Village’s Shepard Park.”
Glens Falls' third annual Fire & Ice ready to sizzle cold, winter nights
UPDATED, Jan. 31: Fire & Ice will be delayed
From a press release, Jan. 30: Even with forecasters providing details that the coldest air this Winter season will arrive later this week, event organizers in the City of Glens Falls decided to postpone the beginning of “Fire & Ice” this Friday. Organizers are concerned about the thickness of the ice on Crandall Pond and, even if it gets very cold later this week, that the ice thickness may not be uniform and safe enough for everyone looking to attend. Event organizers will continue to monitor the conditions of the ice with the hopes of beginning “Fire & Ice” the following Friday, February 10.

From a press release: After battling some mild weather last year, event organizers in the City of Glens Falls are ready for some snow and more chilly weather to help set the scene for ‘Fire & Ice.’
The third year of ‘Fire & Ice’ at Crandall Pond starts Feb. 3 and will be scheduled, weather and ice safety permitting, every Friday during the month of February from 5:30 pm until 9 pm.
The hot chocolate will be free, but guests are asked to bring their own skates, their own hot chocolate mug, and a chair if needed. The warming hut will also be available this year through the generosity of Garden Time and Glens Falls Motors.
Admission is free to the event. Parking is limited to the parking lots at Crandall Pond and Glen Street. All children need to be accompanied by their parents.
“Skating at Crandall Pond is always a fun experience,” says Mayor Bill Collins. “But there is something to be said about a snowy scene, a cup of hot chocolate, and a bright, warm fire. ‘Fire & Ice’ is becoming one of the many things that makes Glens Falls special.”
“What makes ‘Fire & Ice’ so special is that Crandall Pond will be specially lit with six bonfires,” says Ward 3 Councilwoman Diana Palmer, who helps manage the event. “Adding to the ambiance will be music provided by DJ Peter Wilhelm to make ‘Fire & Ice’ a unique skating experience.”
“Last year, because of the mild weather, we had to postpone ‘Fire & Ice’ into March,” Palmer said. “Thankfully, the upcoming forecast looks promising, but we still have a need for volunteers to help run our event."
The Glens Falls Fire Department requires one adult to supervise each fire. If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up via SignUpGenius.
